Per Commission Rule 58H .0204, the Education Provider must provide each prospective student with a copy of the Education Provider’s Policies and Procedures Disclosure (PPD) prior to payment of any Non-Refundable tuition or fee. The PPD, which is required by the (NCREC), outlines Education Provider policies in addition to the rights and obligations of the Provider and the Student.
A signed certification that a student received a copy of the PPD must be retained by the Provider.
NO STUDENT SHALL BE DENIED ADMISSION ON THE BASIS OF AGE, SEX, RACE, COLOR, NATIONAL ORIGIN, FAMILIAL STATUS, HANDICAPPING CONDITION, OR RELIGION.
Course Offerings
Ingram Institute of Real Estate LLC conducts the following face-to-face courses of instruction that will provide students with the basic knowledge and skills necessary to act as real estate brokers, and to satisfy the requirements for obtaining and retaining a real estate license.
§ the Broker Pre-licensing Course required to qualify to take the NC real estate license examination to become licensed as a real estate provisional broker in NC; and
§ the Post-licensing Program needed for provisional brokers to remove the provisional status from their license; and
§ the annual Continuing Education (CE) courses that are needed to maintain a real estate license on active status.
Broker Pre-Licensing Course
Purpose of the Course
Successful completion of the Broker Pre-licensing Course is generally required to qualify for the North Carolina real estate license examination and to obtain a North Carolina real estate broker license. The primary objectives of this course are:
(1) to provide students with the basic knowledge and skills necessary to act as licensed real estate brokers in North Carolina in a manner that protects and serves the public interest, and
(2) to prepare students for the North Carolina real estate license examination.
Broker Pre-licensing may only be offered by education providers certified by the NC Real Estate Commission. At Ingram Institute of Real Estate, the Broker Pre-licensing Course consists of 80 instructional hours, plus an additional 4 hours allotted for the end-of-course exam.
After passing the Pre-licensing course, a student must submit a license application to the North Carolina Real Estate Commission to be eligible to take the license examination. License application instructions are provided in the free publication Real Estate Licensing in North Carolina (RELINC) available on the Commission's website at www.ncrec.gov; as well as included in the handouts for the course and will be reviewed in class.
The minimum age requirement to obtain a real estate license in North Carolina is 18.
The NC Real Estate License Examination is taken at a Pearson VUE testing location, once the Broker Pre-licensing course is completed with at least a passing score of 75% with Ingram Institute of Real Estate. The location map is https://home.pearsonvue.com/Test-takers.aspx
Course Description
Major topics addressed in the Broker Pre-licensing Course include, but not limited to: basic real estate concepts and law, property taxation, land use controls, environmental hazards, brokerage relationships and practices, real estate contracts, real estate financing, closing a real estate transaction, real property taxation, property valuation, property insurance basics, fair housing laws, landlord and tenant, property management, federal income taxation of real estate, basic construction, basic real estate investment, North Carolina License Law and Commission Rules, and Trust Account Guidelines. Real estate mathematics is an important component of this course, and calculations will be required.
Course Expectations
To successfully complete the course, pre-licensing students must meet all the following requirements:
1) attend a minimum of 72 scheduled instructional hours of the 80-hour course (not to exceed 8 hours),
2) students must attend all 4 hours of the first scheduled course session,
§ required and of high importance, as expectations will be discussed
3) timely submission of all assignments (homework and in-class assignments)
4) participate in reviews and quizzes
5) pass the final exam with a minimum score of 75%

End-of-Course (Final) Exam
The end-of-course exam is a comprehensive test covering all subject areas and all sessions of the pre-licensing course. Students must pass with a score of 75% or higher on the end-of-course exam. Students are allowed up to 4 hours for the exam.
The end-of-course exam will be administered by the course instructor or school director approved proctor on the last scheduled day of class.

Pre-license students will be contacted regarding their score via email, not later than 24 hours of completion of the end-of-course exam.
Per Rule 58H .0207(a) a course must be completed (including successful passing of the end-of-course exam) and a completion certificate must be provided within 180 days of course enrollment. Courses cannot be extended past the noted 180 days.
An end-of-course exam will not be administered to any student who does not satisfy the course attendance requirement.
Students are not permitted to bring laptops, tablets, cell phones, or similar electronic devices (other than a basic calculator) into the testing site on the day of the exam. Any student who brings such a device into the testing site on the day of an exam will be required to remove it before the exam begins.
Missed Exams
STUDENTS ARE REQUIRED TO TAKE THEIR END-OF-COURSE EXAM ON THEIR SCHEDULED EXAM DATE. IF A STUDENT DOES NOT TAKE THEIR END-OF-COURSE EXAM AS REGULARLY SCHEDULED, THE STUDENT IS ELIGIBLE TO TAKE ONE EXAM (WITHIN 14 DAYS) AT A TIME AND DATE APPROVED BY THE SCHOOL DIRECTOR AND WILL BE ADMINISTERED BY THE INSTRUCTOR OR DIRECTOR APPROVED PROCTOR. THE STUDENT FORFEITS THE OPPORTUNITY FOR A SECOND EXAM IF THEY SCORE LESS THAN THE REQUIRED 75% TO PASS THE COURSE.
Failed Exams
Retakes are allowed for students scoring between 65% and 74% on the initial end-of-course exam.
All retakes must be completed within 14 days, with date and time approved by the school director. Retakes will be administered by instructor or director approved proctor.
Retakes are only allowed if the initial test score is between 65% and 74%.
The retake exam must be at least a 75% to qualify as a passing score.
Any student who is unsuccessful in passing the exam retake will be allowed to repeat the course in its entirety for a reduced tuition fee of $250 (plus cost of text, if text has changed), provided the course is retaken within 12 months from the beginning date of the initial course taken.
Mere attendance in any Pre-license course with Ingram Institute of Real Estate does not guarantee the student will pass the examination. Failure of the student to master the content and pass the examination does not entitle the student to a refund.

Broker Post-Licensing Education
A Broker Post-licensing student must already possess a North Carolina Real Estate Broker license prior to registration.
The objective of the Post-licensing Education Program is to provide instruction at a level beyond that provided in the Broker Pre-licensing Course on topics deemed to be of special importance to licensees.
Per Commission Rule 58A .1902: provisional brokers must complete, within 18 months following initial licensure “a post-licensing education program consisting of ninety (90) hours of classroom instruction in subjects determined by the Commission” [G.S.93A-4(a)1]. The program consists of three 30-hour courses, which must be completed within 18 months following initial licensure to retain eligibility to actively engage in real estate brokerage.
Post-licensing courses consist of the following:
301 – Broker Relationships and Responsibilities – 30 Hours
Topics include a review of references to commercial application, agency relationships in real estate sales transactions and a real estate agent’s legal duties to clients and customers, a step-by-step review and discussion of the functions and responsibilities of a real estate agent when working with residential sellers and buyers, a review of issues associated with transactions in progress when an agent leaves a firm, and a review of license status and education issues.
302 – Contracts and Closing- 30 Hours
Topics include selected basic contract law concepts, real estate sales contract preparation, sales contract procedures, buyer’s due diligence, closing procedures, Real Estate Settlement Procedures Act, closing statement preparation, contracts for deed, options, and real estate license status and education issues.
303 – NC Law, Rules & Legal Concepts - 30 Hours
Topics include general North Carolina licensing requirements, brokerage compensation issues, the disciplinary process, specialized types of real estate, property management in NC, and miscellaneous NC laws and legal concepts.
Post-Licensing Course Materials
Each student is required to use and have immediate access to the current editions of the NC Real Estate Manual and North Carolina License Law and Commission Rules booklet during each post-licensing course session.
Required course materials will be provided by the instructor to the students via email prior to the class begin date, and on the first day of class. A pdf of the NC License Law and Commission Rules booklet, along with other relevant handouts will be emailed to the students to discuss during class.

End-of-Course Exam
To successfully complete a Broker Post-licensing Course and receive a course completion certificate, a student must:
a) meet all attendance requirements,
§ which includes missing no more than 3 hours of the 30 hours required per post-license course
b) timely submit completed in-class and take-home assignments and
c) pass the written end-of-course exam with a minimum score of 75%
The end-of-course exam will be administered by the course instructor or school director approved proctor on the last scheduled day of class.

Broker Continuing Education (CE) Program
The primary objective of the mandatory Continuing Education Program is to help assure that licensees possess the knowledge, skills, and competency necessary to function in the real estate business in a manner that protects and serves real estate consumers and the public interest.
Per G.S. 93A-38.5, brokers must complete eight (8) credit hours of instruction annually in subjects approved by the Commission to retain eligibility to actively engage in real estate brokerage. Per Commission Rule 58A .1702, the eight (8) hours must be comprised of an UPDATE Course (4 hours) and 4 credit hours of Elective Courses.
Course Descriptions
2024-25 General Update (GenUp – 4 hours):
Brokers and Provisional Brokers with Non-BIC Eligible status must complete the General Update prescribed by the NCREC. The subject of this course will be changed each license year.
2024-25 Broker-in-Charge (BICUP – 4 hours):
Brokers-in-Charge and Brokers with BIC Eligible status must complete the Broker-in-Charge Update (BICUP) for each license period.
The remaining required 4 hours of CE credit hours may be obtained by taking an NCREC approved Elective course.
Course Materials
Broker-in-Charge Update and General Update courses both require a printed handout, which will be given to students prior to the start of class.
Electives differ in subject and will require a variety of materials depending on the topic being covered.
Eligibility Requirements for Course Completion Certificate
Per Commission Rule 58A .1705(a):
To receive credit for completing an approved Continuing Education course, a broker shall:
1) attend at least 90 percent of the scheduled instructional hours for the course
§ 10% must not be at the end of the course, or
§ will need instructor approval for situations outside of student’s control
2) provide his or her legal name and license number to the instructor upon entering the classroom,
3) present his or her pocket-card or photo identification card, if necessary, and
4) personally perform all work required to complete the course.
Continuing Education Tuition/Fees
Broker-in-Charge Update (BICUP): $50.00

Continuing Education (CE) Elective: $55.00
Registration for CE
To enroll in a CE course, prospective students must:
a) be at least 18 years old
b) possess a current NC real estate license on active or inactive status
c) have all course work (8 hours) registered by June 10, or you will not have completed course work by the end of the year (CE is July 1 – June 10), and after June 10 your license will go inactive
General Information
Payment of Tuition and Fees
Ingram Institute of Real Estate accepts the following forms of payment:
Mastercard, Visa, or Venmo at www.IngramInstitute.com when registering or;
Checks and Cash also accepted
Tuition must be received by Ingram Institute not later than the day the course begins.
The penalty for a check returned for insufficient funds is $50 fee, and immediate payment with sufficient debit or credit card.
Attendance
Attendance will be closely monitored, including late arrivals and early departures from class sessions and from all scheduled breaks. All time missed will be recorded for each student.
Sick Policy
Students with illness symptoms now or in the last 24 hours, including but not limited to cough, fever, nausea, etc. will be asked to leave in-person classes. Extended illnesses will give the student the option of a refund or transfer to an upcoming equivalent course.
Course Cancellation or Rescheduling
Ingram Institute of Real Estate reserves the right to cancel or reschedule a course as needed.
Students enrolled in a rescheduled or cancelled course will be given a minimum of 2 days of the cancellation or revised course schedule.
If a course is cancelled or rescheduled, students will have the following options:
a) transfer to the next upcoming course
b) transfer to the next course with a different schedule (weekend vs. week)
c) full refund of course fee
Withdrawals and Transfers
A student may withdraw from a course by giving written notice to the Education Provider prior to the start of the course. In such event, the student will have the following options:
a) transfer to the next upcoming course, or
b) transfer the course to another broker (if the course has not yet started), or
c) full refund of the course fee if notice is given within 48 hours of class, or if student has medical/family emergency.
Student Conduct
Students are expected to represent themselves with a higher level of understanding.
Students are expected to come into class with the expectation of learning and participation.
All students are expected to be on time, as well as stay awake and engaged.
Making phone calls and texting are not allowed during instruction.
Cheating
If a student is discovered to be cheating in any manner, the student will be immediately dismissed, will receive a failing course grade, will not be eligible for any retake or makeup policies, and will be reported to the NC Real Estate Commission within 10 days, per Rule 58H .0203(h).
Communication
The staff and associates of Ingram Institute are only able to speak with the student of record regarding their enrollment.

Ingram Institute of Real Estate, LLC complies with the Americans with Disabilities Act and strives to ensure individuals with a disability as defined by the ADA have an opportunity to participate in a course. Individuals requiring accommodation under the ADA will need to call the director of the school at 252-723-0305 to discuss their individual needs.
Course Schedules
Course schedules are published separately from the Policies & Procedures Disclosures. Schedules are posted on the Education Provider’s website www.IngramInstitute.com and are also available upon request. Schedules will reflect beginning/ending dates as well as the hours of each class. Holidays observed include New Year’s (Dec. 31 and Jan. 1), Easter Sunday, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Thanksgiving Day and Black Friday, Christmas (Dec. 24, 25, and 26th).
Use of Technology in the Classroom
Ingram Institute of Real Estate, LLC is not responsible for lost or stolen items or electronic devices.
It is within the discretion of the instructors to specify when laptops, cell phones, and electronic devices may be used. Instructors have full authority to determine appropriate policies for electronic devices in classrooms.
Students who need to use a cell phone (phone call, texting, email) must do so at one of the course breaks outside of the classroom. All cell phones must be silent and put away during class time.
Electronic devices must be muted during class sessions.
The only time you will have a “noise making machine” is during Kahoot.
Visitors
Classroom courses at Ingram Institute of Real Estate, LLC are open to enrolled students only!
Enrolled students may not bring visitors to the classroom without prior approval of the Education Director.
Location and Facilities
The training facility is approved by the North Carolina Real Estate Commission and meets all safety and health requirements as outlined in city, state, and federal regulations. The location provides free and accessible student parking, which includes handicap parking spaces near the doors.
